Had Some Help Line dance - DEMO & TUTORIAL
Most standards have been choreographed several ways. The steps below follow this choreographer’s sheet; we credit them and link it rather than reprinting it. Their step sheet on CopperKnob
Why this one is in the library
7+ independent versions in May 2024; one placed 2nd at the Florida Line Dance Classic.
The cheat sheet
Big, loud, and current. Seven different choreographers built a dance to this within a month of release.
That means several versions are live. Do not assume the video you watched is the one being danced.
Watch a full round before joining. Thirty seconds of patience saves a lot of collisions.
How it goes
Thirty-two count intro. One restart on wall 4, after count 16. At least seven different choreographies exist for this song — make sure you are learning the one your room dances.
Cross point, cross point, jazz box quarter
Cross your right over the left and point the left out. Cross left over right and point the right out. Then a jazz box turning a quarter right, finishing with a cross.
Lindy right, three-quarter turn, shuffle
Triple to the right. Rock your left behind and recover, using it to wind up. Turn three-quarters right over two steps. Shuffle forward left. The restart happens here on wall 4.
Heel grind, coaster, half turns
Grind your right heel through a quarter turn right. Coaster step. Then step forward left and pivot a half right, twice.
Kicks, sailors, toe back half turn
Kick your left forward, then out to the side. Sailor step left, sailor step right. Touch your left toe back and turn a half left, keeping your weight on the left.
Go dance this week
We do not claim to know which night plays which song. What we do know is where country dancing happens — here are three of the region's nights, and the calendar has the rest.
