Canadian Stomp
Simple, stompy, and a good early one to pick up.

Canadian Stomp Line Dance & Tutorial
Most standards have been choreographed several ways. The steps below follow this choreographer’s sheet; we credit them and link it rather than reprinting it. Their step sheet on CopperKnob
The cheat sheet
Straightforward and stompy. A reliable floor-filler that does not ask much of you.
Different rooms do slightly different versions. Watch one full round before joining.
The stomps are the anchor. Land them and the rest follows.
How it goes
Danced to Any Man of Mine. Lots of holds, which makes it forgiving.
Toe, heel, stomp, hold
Touch your right toe beside your left with the knee turned in, then your right heel forward with the toe turned out. Stomp the right down in front and hold. Mirror it on the left.
Again
Exactly the same eight counts a second time.
Walk back with stomps
Step back right and hold, back left and hold, then back right, back left, and two stomps with your right beside the left — no weight on them.
Vine right, vine left with a turn
Vine right and touch. Then vine left, turning a quarter left on the third count and scuffing your right through.
Jazz boxes
Cross your right over your left, step back on the left, step the right beside it, step the left beside that. Then do it again.
Go dance this week
We do not claim to know which night plays which song. What we do know is where country dancing happens — here are three of the region's nights, and the calendar has the rest.
