Tush Push
One of the most-danced line dances in the world. Hip bumps and cha-chas.

Tush Push Line Dance Tutorial
Choreographers own their work. We credit them by name and send you to their official step sheet rather than reprinting it. Official step sheet on CopperKnob
Why this one is in the library
Choreographed at Gilley's in Texas; on nearly every 'most popular' list written since.
The cheat sheet
Older than most people on the floor and still gets called. Named for the hip push, which is the whole personality of it.
The hips are not decoration — the push is the count. Dance it flat-footed and you will be early every time.
Let the hip lead and the feet follow. If it feels a bit much, you are doing it right.
How it goes
Choreographed at Gilley's in Texas. Danced to Chattahoochee most often, but it goes with any up-tempo track. There are at least six documented variations of the opening — the room will pick one.
Heel taps
Touch your right heel forward, in, forward, forward, then step it together. Mirror it on the left.
Heel, heel, heel, clap
Right heel forward and in, left heel forward and in, then right heel forward and clap.
The hips
Rock onto your right and bump the hip twice. Recover onto the left and bump twice. Then bump right, left, right, left, finishing with your weight on the left. This is the part the dance is named after — commit to it.
Cha-cha forward and back
Cha-cha forward on the right, rock forward on the left and recover. Cha-cha back on the left, rock back on the right and recover.
Cha-cha with half turns
Cha-cha forward right, step forward left and turn a half right. Cha-cha forward left, step forward right and turn a half left.
Quarter, stomp, clap
Step forward right, turn a quarter left, stomp your right in beside the left and clap.

We do not claim to know which night plays which song. What we do know is where country dancing happens — here are three of the region's nights, and the calendar has the rest.
