Why this one is in the library
A widely republished beginner standard.
The cheat sheet
High beginner and forgiving. A sensible second or third dance to add.
Forgiving does not mean slow. Keep your steps compact.
A good one to learn if you already have Copperhead Road and want something a little more.
How it goes
Nearly 400 votes — the clear standard for this song. One easy restart on the 6th wall that you can hear coming in the music.
Heels, walk, tap
Touch your right heel forward, step it in. Same with the left. Walk forward right, left, then tap your right beside your left twice.
Monterey quarter, jazz box
Point your right out and turn a quarter right bringing it in. Point your left out, step it in. Then a jazz box: cross right over, step back left, step right out, step left slightly forward. The restart happens here on the 6th wall.
Slide, point, vine with a quarter
Slide right and touch your left in. Point your left out and touch it in. Then vine left, turning a quarter left on the way and brushing your right through.
Step, clap, pivot, clap
Step forward right and clap. Pivot a half left and clap. Step forward right and clap. Pivot a quarter left and clap.

We do not claim to know which night plays which song. What we do know is where country dancing happens — here are three of the region's nights, and the calendar has the rest.
