We did not make this video — we found the clearest one and linked it. There is no single official version of most line dances, so we are filming the version taught on West Michigan floors with local instructors. Teach it here?

Why this one is in the library

Named a current favorite in 2025 line-dance revival coverage.

The cheat sheet

What you are walking into

Fifteen years old and still gets the whole floor up. Energetic, a bit cheeky.

What catches people out

There is a shake in it and people either commit or look awkward. Commit.

How to get through it

If you feel silly you are doing it correctly. So is everybody else.

These are ours, written for someone who has not danced it yet — not a step sheet. For exact counts, see the choreographer's sheet linked above, or come to a night and let someone teach you.

How it goes

32 counts · 4 walls · Improver

Choreographed in 2011 and still fills floors. Turns in the last section — there is a no-turn alternative if you would rather.

1–8

Walk, bump, rock, quarter

Walk forward right, left. Step forward on the right and bump that hip forward, back, forward. Rock forward left, recover, then shuffle through a half turn left.

9–16

Again with a quarter

The same walks and hip bumps, then a rock and a chassé through a quarter turn left.

17–24

Cross rock, mambo turns, bumps

Cross-rock your right over the left, recover, turn a quarter right stepping forward. Rock forward left, recover, half turn left. Rock forward right, recover, step back. Finish with hip bumps forward, back, forward.

25–32

Heels, grind, coaster, full turn

Right heel forward, step in, left heel forward, step in. Grind your right heel through a quarter turn right, recover. Coaster step. Then a shuffle with a full turn right — or just a plain shuffle if you would rather not spin.

Written in our own words from the most-voted step sheet, so you can read it before you go. It is not the choreographer’s own notation — for that, see their sheet. Most of these dances have several versions; your room may do a different one.

Go dance this week

We do not claim to know which night plays which song. What we do know is where country dancing happens — here are three of the region's nights, and the calendar has the rest.
